Yesterday’s meeting was an outing at the Cedar Creek Sports Center in Mt. Juliet. We welcomed Rafael and Maxwell as visitors. The boys (both young and grown) had a lot of fun playing putt-putt golf …and yes, there is an app for that, too. We will resume our regular meeting next week Thursday at Abundant Life Church. Come prepared with a dry towel for the boys Thursday as we’ll be “bobbing for apples” and playing a round or two of “pumpkin sports”.
We will be overnight backpacking at Longhunter this weekend. It is a 5.5 mile hike in to the rustic campsite on the Volunteer Trail, and the same 5.5 miles back out. There is still room for more participants. There is no charge for this event. We’re packing our own food and water. Please contact either me or Jeremy ASAP if interested. We do have some loaner gear available, first-come-first-served.
Trail Life USA has selected Operation Christmas Child for troop participation on the national level. More information about the program can be found at http://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/pack-a-shoe-box/
Shoe boxes need to be completed the week of November 16-13. We will have more information about this in the near future.
Also, I am really encouraged by the groundswell of interest our troop has seen over the past weeks. Trail Life is a very young group, and there is a lot of information about the organization we’d like to communicate, but don’t want to spend program time disseminating. For that reason, I’m going to begin sending out small chunks of information about Trail Life as an organization. Then we can address any specific questions during or after the meetings. All of this information is also available on the Troop Track website. To kick things off, I’ve attached a document providing an overview of a typical Trail Life troop’s structure.
Thanks and we’ll see you next week!
